Located right in town in Luganville, Espiritu Santo, Deco Stop Lodge is perched upon the hill offering stunning views over the Segond Canal. It is only five minutes from town but you could be a thousand miles away in this peaceful enclave, enjoying the wonderful cool breezes and carefully arranged tropical gardens.
The lodge has only twelve rooms, ensuring personalized service and serenity even when full. Catering for singles, couples and families, as well as those on business trips, Deco Stop Lodge has two Family Rooms, six Twin/Double Rooms, three Triple Rooms and two Deluxe Double rooms with their very own veranda and amazing views, for those after some extra pampering.
The rooms are airy and super-spacious, with high ceilings and big windows facing the ocean. They are nicely decorated, all have ceiling fans and nine of them have air-con. The focal point of the lodge is the fantastic swimming pool and restaurant that open onto the spectacular views of the sea and Aore Island in the distance. The high natangora ceiling above the restaurant gives a great sense of space and the abundant use of hardwood adds to the atmosphere and charm of the old-character building.
There is no question that the restaurant at the Deco has become a bit of an institution and it is the preferred spot for the local expatriate community, who enjoy the ever-changing specials board. Offering some of the best food in Santo, the organic Santo Eye fillet and the homemade lasagna are a must try!
It is easy to get lost in the amazing views and tranquility of the restaurant during lunch time, or the great atmosphere at dinner time, so be prepared, you may come for a quick meal and end up spending hours soaking in the views and the vibe and enjoying the warm hospitality of your hosts.
Ben and Kim have been Deco Stop Lodge’s owner-operators for almost ten years and their kindness is legendary. It is the sense of joining ‘a big family’ that brings returning guests back time and time again to the Deco – ‘home away from home’.
When you are ready to explore, and before you walk out of the door, have a chat to Ben and Kim about their Island Hopping Tour and Fishing Charters. The Island Hopping day aboard their boat, Deco Diva, is one of Santo’s best kept secrets, and one of the nicest days you can have on the water. There are dozens of islands around the south of Santo and this is the way to see them. Ben will take you out for the day, stopping in at some of the fabulous islands along the way. Aore, Malo Pass, Tutuba, Ratua and many others.
The schedule and itinerary is flexible and tailored to what you want. Cruise around beautiful islands, stop for a spot of snorkeling along the spectacular reefs of Ratua, enjoy some R&R on one of the deserted beaches off the smaller islands to the south, navigate the beauty of Malo Pass, relish a luxurious lunch at one of the islands’ resorts or a simple picnic on the beach. It is a spectacular day out and an absolute must do if you are in Santo.
Once you are ready to explore the island you can chose one of Santo’s many tours, which all start in town and pick up at the Deco, or hire one of Deco’s sexy red jeeps and make your way up the East coast to Champagne Beach, the Blue Holes and the gorgeous fishing town of Port Olry. There is so much to do in Santo that you will wish you have more time to explore; but never mind, you can always come back. The Deco Stop Lodge is a great base to start your adventure!
