La Tentation Head Chef Heriaud Malere shares an easy and refreshing treat perfect for the hot summer months.
1 large grapefruit.
1/4 cup honey.
2 tablespoons water.
1 tablespoon finely grated ginger.
Put honey, water and ginger into a small saucepan over medium-high heat and cook for a couple of minutes.
Cut the grapefruit in half horizontally, and carefully scoop out the flesh. Break into segments and place on tray.
Spoon some of the honey mixture over the grapefruit wedges and place the tray under the grill (salamander) until they are beginning to char and are sizzling.
Flip each slice of grapefruit over and spoon more honey mixture on top.
Put under the grill again until done -each side will only take a couple of minutes, so keep a close eye on them!
Using the half empty grapefruit skin as a bowl, place the grilled grapefruit inside and drizzle some of the honey mixture over it, garnish and serve on its own or with your favourite ice cream!
