Natural Disasters Management Office (NDMO) Director Akapusi Tuifagalele confirmed this at a press conference Thursday.
“A total of nine million, six hundred and fifteen thousand, eight hundred and fourty four dollars [$9,615,844] of food rations have been distributed throughout Fiji. The Western Division recorded the highest amount of four million, two hundred and eighty-eight thousand, five hundred and seventeen [$4,288,517].
Director Tuifagalele also added that all roads to villages and jetties are now accessible.
“All roads to villages are now accessible. All jetties are now accessible and this is because of the favorable weather that we have been having.
A total of $476.3 million (US$225.4 million) of estimated damages in all sectors was recorded from damages caused by TC Winston.
NDMO Director Tuifagalele said that the Fiji Roads Authority had a preliminary estimated damage amount of $135 million (US$63.8 million) nationwide.
* Central Division- $28.5 million (US$13.4 million)
* Western Division- $37.8 million (US$17.8 million)
* Eastern Division- $31.4 million (US$14.8 million)
* Northern Division – $37.3 million (US$17.6 million)
Tuifagalele also confirmed that the death toll still remains at 43 while there are 231 operating evacuation centres around Fiji. Read more.
